A Christmas gift with spring to look forward to. The BeeLife Premium Bee Observation Box gives gardeners, families and nature lovers a close-up view of solitary bee nesting activity.
Its clear viewing panel lets you observe mason bees and leafcutter bees as they build their nests. Unlike the Standard box’s built-in module, the Premium features a removable nesting module, giving you the flexibility to fit a fresh module when appropriate.
Designed for UK gardens, it offers a fascinating way to discover more about the wildlife on your doorstep.
The Premium is a good choice if you want an observation box with a removable module and the option to buy additional Fresh Nesting Modules separately.
Follow the positioning and care guidance to prepare your box for the nesting season. Bee activity depends on the season, local populations and conditions, so visitors may take time to discover it.
When replacing a module, follow our step by step of how it works
1. Premium Observation Bee Box
The box with the module arrives fully assembled and with mounting brackets pre-installed for easy installation. An additional bracket has also been manually installed behind the box at the top, so you can choose to hang it from the top rather than mount it from the sides.
2. Instruction sheet

3. Includes a pack of screws and plugs to mount on your garden wall, fence or pergola support post.

How many bees can your box support?
Each removable nesting module has seven nesting rows, with room for around 7–9 pollen-provisioned nesting cells per row when fully occupied. That gives a potential capacity of approximately 49–63 nesting cells per module.
This is nesting capacity, not a guaranteed number of emerging bees. Occupancy and successful emergence vary with nesting activity, local conditions and losses such as parasites.
Easy Module Change
To swap modules, simply unscrew the two side screws (as shown with the orange arrows). These are the only screws used for changing modules. Lift the module out and pop in a fresh one.
The top and bottom screws are different - they’re only used when you’re harvesting cocoons, then inspecting and cleaning each chamber ready for spring.
A fresh, clean home means healthier solitary bees and a thriving garden.

If you’re passionate about solitary bees, garden pollination or nature‑based learning, this observation box is made for you. Watch bees create their nests step‑by‑step, understand their behaviour, and support your garden’s ecosystem - all in one beautifully crafted box.
Solitary bees are tiny pollinating powerhouses. A few small tweaks in your garden make a huge difference.
Make room for nests
Sunny, sheltered nooks are their favourite. Bee observation boxes, hollow stems and natural cavities all work a treat.
Grow their favourites
Pack your space with pollen‑rich plants from March to August. Herbs, wildflowers and flowering shrubs keep the buffet open.
Leafcutter bees will even trim perfect circles from soft leaves - it’s their signature move.
Go chemical‑free
Pesticides disrupt their life cycle, so stick to bee‑friendly gardening.
Keep a wild corner
A bit of bare earth or an untidy patch gives ground‑nesting bees a place to call home.
Add a tiny watering hole
A shallow dish with stones gives bees a safe sipping spot - and the damp soil nearby helps mason bees gather mud for nest‑building.
Help them year‑round
Dry boxes in winter, a spring clean, and plenty of blooms when they emerge.

for your Premium Bee Box
When the module is filled, remove it from the wall and store it in an unheated shed or garage, safely away from predators.
If you keep an extra module on standby, you can replace the full one immediately for continuous nesting.
This ensures your Premium Bee Observation Box is always ready for new arrivals.
During hot spells, bees fill chambers rapidly, making a backup module especially handy.
The empty chambers attract more than just mason bees - leafcutters and potter wasps also make great use of the space.
