Our Journey!

We're so glad you're here.

We're Jamie & Karen, a husband and wife team with a shared passion for nature, learning, and the incredible world of solitary bees. Jamie invented and hand-crafts each BeeLife Box from solid oak, including the original standard bee box and his modular design, both featuring a unique little door that lets you safely peek inside and watch solitary bees as they build, lay eggs, seal their chambers, and develop through their full life cycle.

While Jamie works his magic in the workshop, Karen keeps everything running behind the scenes, from assembling orders and packing each box with care, to handling the admin, dispatch, and shipping that gets your BeeLife Box safely to your door. Every order is a true team effort.

Why we started

BeeLife Box began with boxes we made from leftover wood to observe solitary bees nesting. When we shared them in a Facebook group, the interest took us by surprise. People wanted boxes of their own, and after the nesting season, we began turning that enthusiasm into a business.

Our aim was simple: to bring the magic of solitary bees into everyday life. Watching them build their nests, store pollen and develop from egg to adult is fascinating, yet so much of it usually happens out of sight.

We wanted to open a window into that hidden world.

So Jamie developed a modular observation system that gives families, schools, home educators, nature groups and gardeners a chance to follow the solitary bee life cycle up close and discover its small wonders.

Small bees. A big difference

Solitary bees play an important role in pollinating many of the plants that provide food for us and other wildlife. From fruit trees to wildflowers, their quiet work helps nature thrive.

They don’t produce honey or form swarms, so they’re easy to overlook. But these little bees deserve our attention, and space in our gardens.

Giving solitary bees a place to nest is one way to welcome wildlife and feel more connected to the natural world around us.

Whether you’re a gardener making space for wildlife, a family discovering nature together, or a school or home educator bringing learning to life, a BeeLife Box offers a chance to observe solitary bees up close and discover the small wonders around us.

Handcrafted with care

Each BeeLife Box is individually handcrafted by Jamie, with help from Karen, taking several hours to make.

We create our boxes alongside our existing business, brought together by a shared passion for solitary bees and nature education. Each one reflects the time, care and attention we put into making it.

From our hands to your garden, a thoughtfully crafted home for solitary bees.

As each box is handmade, thank you for your patience while we make yours.
