Every BeeLife box begins its life as a raw blank of solid oak - chosen by hand for its grain, its density, and its natural character. No two pieces are the same, and that's exactly how we like it.
Before a single cut is made, we spend time with the wood. We look at how it's grown, where the grain runs, and how it will weather the seasons once it's outside in a garden. Oak is exceptional for this - tough enough to withstand years of British weather, yet warm and natural enough to sit beautifully in any outdoor space.
What follows is a process of careful transformation. Shaping, smoothing, and finishing - each stage done with patience rather than speed. We're not trying to rush a box into existence. We're coaxing something useful and lasting out of a raw material that deserves respect.
The result is a nesting box that's built to last, built to work, and built with the kind of care that we think solitary bees deserve too.
